Not a Mom

My husband and I have never made the choice to have children.  We didn't choose to be without children necessarily, we just never chose to have kids (and at 45 and 40 years old, that window is coming to a close).  I am around kids all day, every day working in education and I love my time with them.  But I have had friends who I watched at school be so frazzled trying to balance family and work.  I just kind of decided, I didn't want to be that kind of mom.  And since, in this economy, being a stay at home mom was not an option, I sort of felt like my path was set.  I have been blog hopping with these virtual parties and I sort of envy being left out of the secret club.  There is a kind of bond that you moms seem to share.  Are there any other women out there, married who aren't planning families?  I am feeling a tad lonely out here.  :)

Not to worry, you are not let out of a secret society AKA Mom ville. I have raised my kids and now have grand kids and even though I love them very much, I am enjoying the life with just my sweetie! Besides most of us Moms are just trying to keep up and yes, to be the best mom ever (not happening). I have meet several couples that decided to not have kids and they were great with my kids and I kinda shared them. I bet after time with my kids (even though my kids are super) they were glad that they had decided not to have any.
I found you on the linky follower bog hop and I am glad I did. I hope I made you feel better and keep me posted. Come and visit my blog

First of all: you are never alone. The universe does not work that way. You are ALWAYS loved by the universe.

Second of all: every smile you emit, every bit of love you give out, is akin to creating a child. You are creating beauty in the world. And since you are working with kids: all the more true because the effects of your good input will be more long lasting.

Third of all: don't believe everything you read in blog land, and certainly not what people post about their happy, fun, private life, nor blog friendships.

Fourth of all: non-moms tend to be cuter because they are not so ragged from exhaustion, and they have a bit more money usually to spend on their frocks and gym cards, etc.

I am actually coming to your site from the FOLLOWER linky blog hop, and am following you ! :-) Will you follow me back?? Thank you so much when you do.

PLUS: There is also a party on our blog, where you can feature 'your best creative work'. There are some great projects to see already, but we want to see your work!

Use this link both to FOLLOW and to PARTY:

Hope to seeing you around!!
Have a happy, creative day!

I just want to say to you don't let yourself feel like you are not in a certain club..You are a wonderful woman who works in education around children all day long you are a mother to these children daily.
I think we put ourselves in categories sometimes and it shouldn't be that way.
My girls are grown but I remember at a time letting people make me feel inferior because I had my youngest at such an old that I am older I realize that I let that happen...who cares what people think...
Now I followed you over here from linky blog hop and now follow you would love for you to visit Hibiscus House and follow if you wish..Thanks have a great day...Dolly

Hi Jen,

You are not alone...I am child free by choice. My husband has two kids, but I don't consider myself a stepmother. I really enjoy my life and really don't want to juggle life with kids. I wouldn't be able to stay home either. Sometimes I envy the moms in blogland, but most of the time I realize what their lives are really like and I know I enjoy my freedom more.

Anyways...I'm here if you ever what to talk!!

I have kids, and my last little girl was born when I was 36. I would not trade being a mom for anything, but I understand wanting to be the BEST mom. Love your blog, and so glad I found you on the Linky blog hop. I am now following on GFC and LF. I would love if you stopped by and followed back, so we can stay connected. Lori
