The thing about this pattern that I didn't like it that you are really supposed to see the backside of the fabric underneath. If you were using a sheer fabric as the lining layer or maybe an eyelet, I could see how this would work but this fabric is gorgeous and I wanted it to show. I lengthened the lining layer about two and a half inches to provide enough of a hem that I could turn it up and show the contrast.
Here is the skirt reversed. |
One other really odd thing about the pattern is that it says you need 3/8" elastic. Pretty skinny stuff. The waistband is more than two inches wide. I ended up sewing a channel of sorts to hold the elastic in place or it would just get lost in a wide band like this. I think you need 1" wide elastic at least.
I would love to remake this skirt in a fabric with a bit more drape to see how it hangs differently but I still really love it.
